How do I know I can trust the quality of Muenster Milling Co?

We take the quality of our product personally. We have high standards for our product from the minute we receive raw ingredients until it leaves our warehouse. We use fixed formulas instead of least cost formulas so that we have the exact same recipe every time. We start off by testing our raw ingredients for foreign products before production. Next, we put our team through intense training to make sure they know exactly what they’re doing when helping cook Muenster products. After the product is cooked, we then test everything to assure that we meet our guarantees and are free of any foreign products.

Why does Muenster use chicken meal instead of fresh chicken in their formulas?

We choose to use Chicken Meal instead of Fresh Chicken for several reasons:

  • Fresh Chicken is between 70-90% water
  • Ingredients are listed in order from heaviest to lightest BEFORE cooking. When you cook a product that is upwards of 80% you only end up with 1/5th of what you claim is in the product. Many times, you will see chicken meal as the first ingredient after an ingredient like fresh chicken in order to compensate for the added water they pump into the formula.
  • In our opinion, it’s just a way to deceive the customer into thinking that they are getting something they’re not.

At what age do I transition my dog from puppy food to adult food?

We recommend that you do not switch your dog over to an adult diet unless they are 18 months old. Sometimes the larger breeds need to be switched sooner in order to give them a larger kibble option.

At what age do I transition my dog to a senior food?

There’s not a set age to transition your dog to a senior food. All of our dogs will age at different rates than others. If your dog starts having joint problems and starts moving slower, we then recommend making a transition to our senior diet or another diet with glucosamine and chondroitin

How do I switch my dog to Muenster?

We recommend that you switch gradually over a time period of 10 days, even when changing from one Muenster product to another.

Muenster doesn't make a product that I want, how do I know if you intend to in the future?

I want to feed Muenster, but I don't live near a location that retails your product, how do I find it?

You can ask your local pet store to carry our product or check out our online store.

I notice when I'm shopping at Target, Walmart, Petco, Petsmart, and other large grocery chains that I don't see your food, why is that?

We are a small business to the core. We choose to support other independently owned and operated stores. For over 90 years, we have survived with the support of small business and independently owned companies. Our goal is to continue this for the next 90 years.

My dog is having loose stools, what causes that?

Several things come into play when you see your dog with loose stools. Just like humans, dogs have the tendency to feel under the weather from time to time. By using fixed formulas and a high level of quality control, we can assure you that your dog is eating the same thing every time. Many times dogs will eat anything they find that might just taste good, yet causes them to get sick. Steps you can take to help ensure the stools stay solid are to avoid feeding table food, feed your dog 2-3 times per day, and keep their food supply consistent.

Where do you buy your ingredients from?

We source as many ingredients as we can locally. Our family has purchased ingredients from many of the same family farms since 1932. One of the benefits of being located near Dallas is that we are able to order many of our packaging products locally as well.

How to cancel autoship

You’ve set up autoship but need to cancel it so your pup can play catch up with their chow. Here is a step by step on how to cancel your autoship subscription so you won’t get charged again until you’re ready to set it back up:

Step 1: Click on “Account” at the top right of the home page to log in to your account on muensterpet.com.

Step 2: Once you are logged in, you will be directed to your account dashboard. Click on “Click here” of the "Click here to manage your subscriptions." on your account page.

Step 3: You will see your subscription details. In the right menu select "Manage Subscriptions" and select the subscription you would like to manage.

Step 4: Underneath the subscription details, at the bottom of the page, select "Cancel Subscription" and follow the prompts.

Step 5: Ready to get the food shipments back on schedule? Click the “Inactive” subscriptions tab, then "Reactivate"!
