What's the Best Dog Food?

Best dog food in bowl

Most people’s dogs are either overweight, have allergies, or are picky eaters when they come to us and people want to know what the best dog food is. Well, the best dog food doesn’t exist for every dog, but it does exist for your dog. It’s really about finding what dog food works best for your dog with its specific needs. For example, if you have a dog that’s overweight, you really want to focus on a low carb diet:

  • High Protein
  • High Fat
  • Low Carbohydrates

With human pet food companies like Mars and Nestle controlling the majority of the pet food market, pet food nutrition has mimicked human nutrition- which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense considering humans have found a way to be mostly overweight and now dogs are following the same trend.

Now if you have a dog that has allergies -which a lot of people do- most of the time it’s because they’ve been fed least cost recipes that have fillers like corn, wheat, soy; what that does is it triggers that dog putting it in an inflammatory state and everything it eats causes an allergic reaction. We at Muenster want to get the dog on a simple food and get it back to the basics. That’s why a lot of our foods have more of what dogs are supposed to eat like:

  • Protein
  • Local Ancient Grains
  • High Levels of Fat

And if you have a dog that’s picky, we’ve got all kinds of options. Especially when you look at our Coated Kibble Project, which is a base kibble recipe with 4 to 5 toppings on the outside of the kibble like:

  • MCT Oil
  • Bone Broth
  • Probiotics
  • Bacon Fat

And all kinds of other flavors to help make that dog food ideal for the picky eater.

We have another awesome program called My Custom Dog Food where you take one of our base recipes that your dog likes and then you can make it the best food for your dog. If you have a dog that’s overweight we can add salmon oil and freeze dried so that it lowers the carb levels. If you have a dog that’s got allergies you can pick a fish based recipe and put probiotics and bone broth on there to help build the gut integrity that will also help reduce allergic reactions in the digestive system. And if you have a picky dog, you can switch back and forth with the same base but change flavors every month when you renew. So remember, it’s not what is the best dog food, but what’s the best food for your dog.

If you have any questions, drop us a line on social media or shoot us an email and we’d be happy to find out what is the best food for your dog.
